Attitudes and Reactions

Verses 3 – 5 of Psalm 104 give some good advice how we are to deal with anger and resentment that the events of the day often conspire to leave us restless and brooding.
Verse 3 tells us that if we are angry not to do wrong, an echo of the words of Jesus where he says to be angry and sin not. Is David telling us to leave it in and let it fester and eventually cause bitterness? No! What to do about it? Hold on to that thought for a bit.
Expanding his thought David says even in the night on our beds when resentment is stealing our sleep don’t break silence, in other words, don’t vent. Sadly, venting is something I do often to my own hurt.
So finally, in verse 5 he tells us what to do. Pay our sacrifices, pray, and trust in God. In another place I said we need to roll the anger and resentment and other burdens off our back and on to God, who is able and willing to take it and carry it away from us.
Just a few simple words from a simple Psalm, but words that promise health to us.
